chainsaw sharpening
When manually sharpening your chainsaw chain, try to take a look at your feet. They very much determine the angle of attack as the body will ajust it´s movement according to the feet. If you have a guide available it will serve you as a teaching tool to learn perfect free hand grinding. Use the guide, and place your feet so the file movement will naturally follow the correct direction. Then remove the guide and give it a try. Also, the vertical position of the saw will affect your vertical angle so try to be consistent. Same principle as above, use the guide to find the best hight for you and memorize it so you can fashion a vice out of a tree stub when working in the field. |
